30 Minute Swim
I was able to slip a 30 minute swim in this afternoon. I'm planning on having a better week next week, even thought we'll be out of town.

This has been a crazy week. We're going out of town on Sunday night and there just hasn't been enough time to take care of work and training. I missed Tuesday's and Wednesday's work-out, but was able to get in 30 minutes each running and on the stationary bike. I'm hoping I'll find time to work-out while we are gone.
This morning I walked for 30 minutes and then headed to the Y to meet Susan for my first (and last) spinning class. I only lasted 20 minutes. My feet flew out of the cages twice and I nearly killed myself. I just could not keep up. At least my swimming experience was positive. This afternoon I swam at the Aquatic center and swam for 30 minutes. The water was cold - I should have tried out my new wetsuit. I had a breakthrough with my stroke and cut my lap time by about 4 seconds.
I didn't get to do anything yesterday. We did walk quite a bit from the convention center to downtown and back. Today I cycled on the trainer for one hour. I'm going to try a spinning class tomorrow.
We left for Dallas yesterday to attend a training, so I didn't get to work out on Thursday. This morning I went to the gym at the hotel, but it was a cramped little room with one piece of equipment on top of another. I could only handle being on the cycle for 15 minutes. Tonight I attempted to swim in the tiny pool and again only lasted 15 minutes. It was very disheartening.
This morning I cycled on the trainer for 30 minutes and went swimming in the early evening. I tried to manage my stroke so that it was more efficient. It was very awkward and I couldn't tell if I was doing it right. I think I might need some professional help.
The weather was really cool this morning when I went out to run. I mostly walked with bursts of running in between. The geese were pesky this morning. One actually came out of the water and tried to attack me, but when I pulled out my water bottle he backed off.
This morning I set up my laptop and watched videos as I cycled on the trainer for 80 minutes. I'm hoping to find some spinning DVD's to help me gain strength and speed. Jannelle told me about some called Spinervals that I'm going to check out.
I was signed up to do the Grant a Starr foundation 5K right here in First Colony, but I woke up with a really bad migraine about 4:30am. I took an Imitrex and went back to bed, but it was still there when I got up at 6:30am. I went back to bed and decided that my entry fee would serve as a donation for the charity.
Yesterday was another crazy, busy day. I didn't get to exercise and I did have another migraine.
Yesterday was a rest day, mostly because I didn't have any time. This morning I swam for 30 minutes. Tonight Patricia and I did hills in the Town Center Garage. She had been out of the country so we hadn't done hills since right before the Half Marathon. It was obvious that it had been 3 weeks.
It was in the hi 60's today, so getting in and out of the pool was really nice. I swam for 30 minutes. I had another headache (4th day in a row). I'm thinking that I've developed an allergy to the dates I have every morning with breakfast.I'll eliminate them for the next few days and see what happens.
I didn't get to train at all yesterday and was I was really dreading doing a long ride by myself today. The I realized that I could set up my laptop to watch DVD's while I trained in the garage. So that's waht I did for an hour. I got quite a workout!
This morning I woke up with a migraine. I swam for 30 minutes and it seemed to relieve it some.
After my freak-out last night, I decided I had better ramp up my swimming. I went to the Aquatic Center and swam for a full hour. Based on my per lap time, I figure that I swam .42 miles at an average of 40 seconds per 25 ft lap. That would equate to between 85 and 95 minutes for .6 miles. With my 10K time in the 1:20 to 1:30 range, that leaves me less than 2 hours for the bike ride and transitions. I'm going to have to get my cycling speed up a lot, to an average of between 18 and 20mph, if I'm going to finish in 5 hours. OMG!
After a 5 minute warm-up, I ran 1:00/1:00 intervals for about 10 minutes. My knee started to twitch, so I went back to walking. After a rest, I cycled for 30 minutes on the trainer. I'm really getting nervous about the quarter iron man. The time limit is 5 hours and I'm trying to calculate how long it's going to take me to finish the different components. It's going to be tight.
I felt like a blimp this morning after overdoing my eating this weekend. I walked for 45 minutes, about 15 minutes longer than usual. This evening I swam at the Aquatic Center for 20 minutes. The swim team was still there, so it was business as usual, even thought it's now "Swim at Your Own Risk."
I finally got a bike rack for my car. Since I've been really paranoid about cycling on the road by myself, I drove over to UH and rode up and down the wide pavement on University. This was my first time on the pavement with my new tires. I could definitely feel the difference, although the trip to the east was tough against the wind.I did about 9 miles (3 back and forth loops) in 45 minutes, which is pretty slow. I'm going to have to build up my speed and endurance, that's for sure.
